Tamás Oroszlán first developed a deeper interest in wine during a college wine course, where he gained not only knowledge but also a sense of connection to the world of wine. He began his career at a specialist wine shop in Budapest while still studying economics and marketing at university. There, he learned day by day how to tell the stories behind the bottles on the shelves in a way that enriched the customer experience.
He gained international experience through a year working at wine events and as a wine shop sales assistant in England, followed by a year with a wine wholesaler in France. He worked as a marketing specialist at Hilltop Winery, then as Head of Marketing and Sales at Haraszthy Vallejo Winery. Since early 2011, he has been Commercial Director at Tokaj-Hétszőlő Organic Vineyards, spending the past 15 years bringing Tokaj wines to an ever-wider audience of wine merchants and wine lovers.
Alongside his practical industry experience, he completed the WSET Advanced qualification at Winelovers Wine College. More recently, he earned the DipWSET, one of the wine world’s most prestigious qualifications, as well as the Weinakademiker title awarded by the Austrian Wine Academy.
As an instructor at Winelovers Wine College, Tamás draws on this experience and knowledge to offer students practical wine education. He also hopes to share his sense of connection to the wonderful world of wine, together with the culture and pleasure of enjoying it. “I would like as many people as possible to discover, as they learn about wine, that wine is an experience, a memory, a conversation with friends, a winemaker, a unique terroir—and to leave wanting to learn even more…”
